PROJECT OVERVIEW
01
THE PROBLEM
THE GOAL
MY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Many people find it hard to keep their houseplants healthy because they don't know exactly how to care for them. They might not be sure when to water their plants, how much sunlight they need, or what to do if their leaves turn yellow. This can make taking care of plants stressful and confusing. Without the right help, plants can get sick or die. Our app makes it easy to get the right advice and tips, so everyone can enjoy healthy, happy plants at home.
To give people the knowledge and tools they need to keep their houseplants healthy, the Plants' Care app offers personalized care tips, expert advice, and real-time updates.
This is an individual project that allowed me to plan and direct each step of the design thinking process as a UX designer.

My responsibilities:
  • conduct user research
  • define the problem and provdided insights to inform the ideation phase
  • define personas, user journeys, empathy maps and user flows
  • visual design of low-fi and high-fi wireframes, prototypes and user testing

USER RESEARCH
03
Understanding users’ challenges through interviews allows me to design solutions that address their specific needs, such as personalized care tips and real-time alerts. By analyzing their pain points, I identified key features to help them keep their plants healthy.  My goal was to gain insights into the needs and wants of users so that I can better design my app. This research ensured the app would be user-friendly and effective.
"I don't know if my plant is getting enough sunlight."
"It's hard to tell what's wrong when my plant looks unhealthy."
"I can't tell if I'm overwatering or underwatering my plants."

Problematic Watering Schedules:
Users often don't know when or how much to water their plants, leading to overwatering or underwatering.
Incorrect Light Levels:
Many people don´t know the right amount of light for specific plant, causing plants to receive too much or too little sunlight.
Pest and Disease Management:
Users find it difficult to identify and treat plant pests and diseases promptly.

POTENTIAL IMPACT
KEY LEARNINGS
NEXT STEP
Increased plant survival rates:
By providing users with easy access to plant identification and troubleshooting, the app can help people avoid common mistakes that lead to plant death. This could lead to a significant increase in the number of thriving houseplants.

Reduced environmental impact:
Healthy plants can improve air quality and reduce stress.
Growth of the plant enthusiast community: The app can foster a community of plant lovers by allowing users to share photos, ask questions, and learn from each other's experiences.
Focus on user-friendliness:
The app's ability to accurately identify plants and provide clear, concise care instructions will be crucial for its success.

Prioritize plant problem diagnosis:
A solution for identifying and addressing plant issues (like pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies) will be a key selling point for users who encounter problems with their greenery.

Consider a community aspect:
Encouraging users to connect and share experiences can increase engagement and make the app a valuable resource for plant enthusiasts of all levels.
Refine plant identification:
Testing and improving the accuracy of the plant identification feature to ensure users get the right information for their specific plants.

Developing a robust plant care guide:
Creating a comprehensive database of care instructions for a wide variety of plants, covering watering, light requirements, fertilization, and troubleshooting common problems.

Exploring community features:
Considering the implementation forums, chat functionalities, or photo-sharing options to allow users to connect and share their plant journeys.
